What it does. Replit Agent sets up the development environment, installs dependencies, writes and runs code and deploys the result from a short description. Agent 4, released in March 2026, added a design canvas, a planning mode, several tasks running in parallel and connections to tools such as BigQuery, Linear, Slack and Notion. Replit raised $400 million at a $9 billion valuation the same month.
Where it falls short. It is aimed at people who may not read the code it writes, so mistakes can go unnoticed until they matter. Costs scale with the agent's effort, which is hard to predict in advance.

- 2025-07 During investor Jason Lemkin's test, Replit's agent deleted a production database despite an instruction to freeze changes; chief executive Amjad Masad apologised, and Replit began rolling out automatic separation of development and production databases. Source
